Plus-size
beauty hits the big time Sujet:Une exemple d'affirmation de soi On peut y lire: Parkers star Mo'Nique launches her fashion empire. Big and beautiful funnylady Mo'Nique serves up queen-size laughs every week on The Parkers. But in her latest venture, she's serving up sexy fashions which she created just for her fellow full-figured gals. I'll never be a size 6, or even a size 16," she tells GLOBE in an exclusive interview. "I wear a size 22, and I'm proud because I wear it EXTREMELY well. You can print that!" The 32-year-old Baltimore native started out in 1988 as a stand-up comic with an act that often got so X-retad and blue it was described as "Ultraviolet." But after a couple of guest spots on Moesha last year, Mo'Nique finally hit the bigtime. She landed her own show, a Moesha spinoff called The Parkers. It's become the UPN network's No. 1 comedy. Now, Mo'Nique has launched her own clothing line, a dream 10 years in the making. She calls her duds for women sizes 14 to 32- Big, Beautiful & Loving It!- and even has own website, www.moniquesbbli.com. "I was always seeing big women who looked unhappy with themselves, dressing 'fat,' hiding under big skirts," she explains. "My clothes are sexy, but also tasteful." If it sounds as if Mo'Nique, who lives near Los Angeles with her hubby. Mark Jackson and their two sons, has energy to spare, she does! "I walk on a treadmill, I do Tea-Bo, and I
have wonderful sex with my husband, who's also thick,
healthy and robust," she says. "Sometimes I ask
myself, 'Oh my God, is this really happening to me? I'm
so blessed."
